It's the first time in Texans franchise history that they were able to top the Colts, (27-24) and Indianapolis knows how they feel. Congratulations, Houston! The Colts defense is a real mystery to casual observers, but Mike Chappell, sports writer for the Indy Star says it's all up to the offense...
The offense tried but came up short. It wasn't for a lack of effort or execution. Blame a lack of opportunities. But there is good news, too. We have five players going to the pro bowl. Including, finally, Reggie Wayne, the Colts "other" wide receiver. In Aloha, Reggie ,Phillip B. Wilson says,
A direct byproduct of another ineffective outing by the Colts' defense was too few possessions for its offensive counterparts. There were seven in all, but that included a kneel-down at the end of the first half. The seven possessions were a season low, as were the 45 offensive plays.
Wayne was one of five Colts selected for the Pro Bowl in an announcement coordinated through the NFL Network and NFL.com. Quarterback Peyton Manning and center Jeff Saturday will start. Wayne, receiver Marvin Harrison and left tackle Tarik Glenn were chosen as reserves. There's no doubt that when the Colts offense is "on" they are just awesome to watch. But that's an amazing stat...the same team has #'s two AND three receivers in the league!
Wayne didn't care about being a reserve for the AFC-NFC game Feb. 10 in Honolulu. Truth be told, the sixth-year pro wasn't counting on making the trip.
"You expect the worst," he said. "If I don't get in, it doesn't surprise me. The last couple years, they've kind of overlooked me, so it really wasn't a big thing to me."
Wayne's 1,213 receiving yards are second in the NFL. Harrison is third with 1,180 yards.
