Awesome Is About To Get Better!

I don't normally get around to the website maintained by the Dept of Defense, Defenselink.com . But as I was cruising Drudge I found this article about military recruiters meeting and exceeding their goals. It's mostly interesting in the way it inserted facts that had nothing to do with the story.
The progress in recruiting comes as U.S. pessimism over the Iraq campaign mounts, according to a recent AP-Ipsos poll. Some 63 percent of Americans said they don't expect a stable, democratic government to be established in Iraq, up from 54 percent who felt that way in June.
Dissatisfaction with President Bush's handling of Iraq has climbed to an all-time high of 71 percent, according to the AP-Ipsos survey this month. A bipartisan commission last week released its recommendations for a new course and the president held a series of meetings this week to hear from his advisers.
I think this generation is not only taking advantage of some great benefits, but they're also stepping up. We can be very proud of these young adults . But, according to this AP article, we can't just leave that alone. If there's anything we know for sure these days, it's that there is NO good news from this war.
So anyway, at the bottom of the article, they gave a link to the DOD and I thought maybe I could find some unspun information on the recruiting successes. I found a lot more.

New Evaluation Brigade to Test Emerging Warfighter Technologies
The program’s goal, Wadsworth explained, is to tap into the most advanced technologies possible “to enable soldiers and leaders to see the enemy first and understand his intentions.
“And once we understand what the enemy is going to do,” he added, “we can act first and finish decisively, which is the whole notion of the Future Combat System.
Then a little further down...
Gen. Peter Schoomaker, Army chief of staff, emphasized the importance of the Future Combat System, and of getting its capabilities into the operational force as quickly as possible, in October during his keynote address at the Association of the U.S. Army convention in Washington.
“The goal is to enable the soldiers to see first, understand first, act first and finish decisively,” Schoomaker said. “I want there to be no doubt that we are totally committed to fielding the future force, enabled by the FCS.”
